ridgely paints Angels. She did not go to Art School- In years past she taught others to paint. Life intervened- she tucked her paint brush away- lived life as a paramedic- married a career cop ;-).
A life-long primitive folk art lover, ridgely discovered Teresa Kogut, a gifted artist, who teaches an Angel Tutorial in Acrylic Painting. She enrolled in Teresa’s class. And, as they say in the movies… the rest is history.
Painting helps her move forward. Angels watch over her and the people who own them. Her collectors speak of the calmness ridgely’s Angels bring into their homes.
Since she signed her first piece of folk art in 1980, ridgely has always written her name in small caps. She fights computers daily over their insistence to capitalize her name… she wins- she’s a determined woman. Most mornings you can find her in the painting room in her home in Summerville, South Carolina- her Jack Russell Terrier snoozing on the nearby bed at watch for the post lady who he doesn’t particularly care for.
Her “cop” retired from North Charleston Police Department after 35 years- Billy is a South Carolina Pitmaster and owns Billy’s Blast. Do yourself a favor- buy a bottle- you will throw the other bottles of spice taking up all that cupboard space in the trash can.
