Description
Decatur is richly painted Angel strikingly poised against a farmhouse type setting of scrapbook papers. Included is one of ridgely’s favorite: the corrugated cardboard in the upper left corner. Carefully selecting and coordinating the background setting is one of the many steps involved in ridgely’s Angels. (She confesses one of her favorite pastimes is sitting on the floor of her painting room juggling the 4” squares.*) 4” squares are used as a throwback to her quilting days… she likes things to “line up!” Besides, keeping up with 4” squares is more manageable than reams of paper!!
Decatur’s wings are unique as they are butterfly shaped- a style not used often. They fit perfectly with the deep rep of Decatur’s dress and her dark hair. Please see all the gallery images to see the close ups of the painting and antiquing detail! Decatur is named after the city the artist was born: Decatur, Georgia.
Paintings are wrapped and packed in archival bags with special care and attention. The sides and back of the piece are painted black with specific documentation about the Original Angel. Painted on a traditional splined professional canvas, the painting lies flush to the wall with no frame needed! The Angel arrives to your home ready to hang with a sawtooth hanger attached to the back.
(Special messages may be possible on the back of painting- please inquire if interested).
